Welcome to my web site. I am delighted to share my passion, inspiration, and vision with you.
My early career began as a freelance travel journalist/photographer, during which I had the privilege of collecting images from over 80 countries and writing for more than 48 newspapers and magazines, including the Los Angeles Times, Westways Magazine, and Popular Photography. Realizing that I had a deeper satisfaction and passion about the images I captured than I did the articles I wrote, my focus shifted to photography and set the tone for the rest of my life.
For 11 years I was the Official Photographer of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the largest event of its kind in the world. Those photographs have been honored by Kodak in a diorama on Times Square.
Over the years I have taught photography at UCLA and camera stores in CA, and I am still giving workshops to a retinue of private students who tell me they enjoy my love of nature and exciting shows.
I am sort of known as "the horse photographer," having specialized in capturing equine power and magnificence on film and digitally. While my equine art is displayed in several western and fine art galleries throughout California, I spend much of my professional life exhibiting and selling in successful art shows in Beverly Hills, Calabasas, La Jolla, Malibu, Sausalito, Thousand Oaks, Woodland Hills, and various venues in Arizona and Nevada.
My newest artistic incarnation emerged recently. I have begun painting wild color abstracts by dripping pigments and dyes onto a wet surface. Agitating the colors to create my desired patterns, I let the colors tell me what they want to become. These images reflect my lifelong passion - color for its own sake and the emotional responses it can evoke. These abstract paintings have a variety of moods. Some are vibrant and have high energy, while those using muted tones are ethereal and spiritual. Since the medium is fluidic each piece is a one-of-a-kind original work of art.
My work is now a mix of both genres. I hope you enjoy them all.
